What is Body Mass Index (BMI)?
Body Mass Index (BMI) is an international formula used to determine if a person is at a healthy weight range relative to their height. The BMI formula is calculated by dividing body weight (kg) by the square of height (in meters).
For example, for a person weighing 70 kg and 1.70 meters tall, the BMI calculation is: 70 / (1.70 * 1.70) = 24.2. This value is within normal limits.
Classification of Body Mass Index Values
According to World Health Organization (WHO) standards, BMI values are divided into the following categories:
